The two biggest hits against it is that it's 'guilds' aren't very well thought out at the moment, and the Faeries make no lore sense: but considering Orbis's biggest hits of 'the AI's not all that good' and RifE's 'd'tesh health lolol BARBARIANS!', I think it wins that battle. However, civilization's that the creator is fond of and new systems do get added in as well (the Rhys and Fall styled victory conditions sound like they'll be awesome to me!). Bugs are fixed pretty quickly in hotfixes, and there seem to be less OSS crashes (a less then insanely nice computer will get memory crashes, though: that's inevitable with the higher civ mods). Along with fixing the AI, it also became the 'steady' platform. Wildmana seems to have been at it's core 'the AI sucks, let's fix that'. But they'll unbalance or break something else, and there we go again.)

This is understood by the creators (and they get more annoyed by the day at having it pointed out), but no patch has been made because the ways to fix it are attached to the cool new systems they're going to add with the next patch, and they're working on them still. For a human, it's easier, even at the highest difficulty levels. That makes the four 'fallow' civilizations that don't need food and the two lizard factions that gain major Health from jungles almost obscenely powerful: those six factions (well, five, actually- the AI isn't that good with one of the undeads) will double, if not triple, the scores of every and any other AI at a records pace. The biggest problem is that there is a tendency to add rather then fix, and to add without testing.

The mod is the kitchen sink for fantasy Civ mods: if it's cool, they're trying to work it in. Rise from Erebus takes a lot of things from Orbis- it seems to be built with a 'is it cool and out there? Then it belongs in RifE!' ideal. Unfortunately, the creator is now taking a break, so this might be another development limbo thing. Some mechanics are very different, meaning that it played very different from Wildmana and RiFE until the very recent RifE patch. Orbis was focused on the areas of Civ the creator found the most fun to play- you'll notice the tech tree is quite different, to emulate some historical areas he felt the whole Fall From Heaven area didn't focus on.

So comes Orbis, Fall Further Plus (later on changed to Rise from Erebus), and Wildmana.Īll had different goals. Then that sort of fell in to development limbo. What basically happened is there was Fall from Heaven. There was talk about the designers going back to making a new addition. It was left without development for a long while. Between Fall Further and Orbis, Orbis is better. Agreeing with everyone already speaking, Wildmana.
